House. Circa 1843 with minor later additions and alterations. Purple
brick; hipped slate roofs with deep eaves. Main range of 3 x 3 bays
with long 4-bay service range at right-angles to right. 2 storeys with continuous
stone cill band to first floor, stone plinth and 4 brick pilasters to
front. 1:1:1 windows, glazing bar sashes with overlapping plain stone
lintels, lower left 15-paned and extending to ground and upper right with
small narrow window immediately to left. Central entrance; moulded round-
headed arch and inner recessed round-headed doorway with half-glazed double
doors and semi-circular fanlight. Left return has 3 French casements with
margin lights under ornamental glass-canopied cast-iron verandah continued
to right bay to rear. This has slightly recessed centre bay with full-
width canted bay projection to ground floor, having three 15-paned glazing
bar sashes extending to ground. Ridge stacks to left and right to front
and rear and to left of centre to service range. Interior. Inspection
not possible at time of resurvey (February 1987) but noted as having
panelled window shutters to French casements and to canted bay projection
to rear. A sundial dated 1843 (not included in this list) stands to front
and this is probably the date of the house.
