Milestone. Late C18. Bath stone pillar with cast iron plaque plugged on. Stone about 350 metres wide and 250 mm thick, standing about 950 mm high, the top roughly rounded: plaque 320 mm x 260 mm high, with shouldered semi-circular top of 280 mm diameter: early 'incised' lettering reads: "BRUTON" in curved head, "3 MILES" in plaque proper.
Well preserved example; the Bruton Trust founded 1756, became responsible for this Bruton to Warminster Road in 1793.
