Churchyard wall, Church
of St. John the Baptist
GV II
Churchyard wall. Probably late C18 or early C19 but likely to contain
earlier re-used material. Roughly coursed gritstone and conglomerate
rubble. Maximum 2m high, enclosing elevated originally oval-shaped
churchyard. The wall is missing on south side, where churchyard has
been extended, but the bank continues and has 5 yew trees planted on
its top. The shape and built-up nature of the churchyard suggests an
early origin for the church of St. John the Baptist (q.v.).
