The Old Post Office
GV II

Cottage, latterly post office, now cottage. Probably C16, re-modelled
in late C18 with extensive later additions and alterations, chiefly of
late C20. Uncoursed gritstone rubble largely replacing timber framed
structure of which open (originally central) cruck truss survives,
machine tile roof. 2-cell plan with late C20 extension to right in
matching style. One storey and attic; two C20 casements with segmental
heads to left and right of original part with C20 gabled eaves dormer
between; entrance through C20 door in extension to right with contemporary
casements to left and right; red brick ridge stack formerly integral to
right gable end. Interior: not inspected but noted as having timber-
framed cross wall to centre of original part and chamfered spine beam
with heavy joists to right-hand ground-floor room; apex of cruck truss
destroyed. Alcock (1981) p.144.
