Barn and cowshed approximately 30m west of Asterton Hall

Barn and cowshed. Early to mid C18, altered and repaired in C19. Red brick
(random bond) with interrupted floor bands on long sides, stone slate roof
repaired with Welsh slates and machine tiles. 3 irregularly spaced doors
with cambered heads on west side (one to north now blocked), one eaves hatch
and ventilation shafts; 6 doors on east side (one now blocked and 2 C19),
3 eaves hatches. Interior. Floored over with C19 cowstalls on ground floor;
Queen strut roof of 4 bays with angle braces between floor of loft and tie
beams; further bay to north divided off by inserted brick partition. A contemporary
timber-framed and weatherboarded barn at right angles to the south-east (linked
by a C19 open shelter bay) derelict at the time of re-survey (June 1984) not included.
