Barn. C16. Timber frame on low brick sill, dark weatherboarded, with
steep pitched roof of corrugated iron. A tall 3-bays barn facing W with
gabled projecting central porch. Jowled posts, curved braces to
irregular tie-beams, cranked tension braces to sill in end and
side-walls. One purlin to each slope carried on collars with vertical
queen-struts. Curved wind-braces. Heavy jowls to posts. Squint-butted
scarf joint in wallplate with 2 edge pegs. Thin roof scantlings for
thatch. Rough carpentry with irregular timbers.
