Farmhouse. Mid C18 with earlier origins; later alteration and extension.
Coursed squared limestone; pantile roof; brick stacks, one rebuilt. Centre
stairhall plan, one room deep, extending to left; rear outshutm added.
2-storey, 3-window front, with 1½-storey, 2-window range to left. Irregular
quoins. Central 6-panel door under rectangular fanlight in Doric pilastered
doorcase with entablature and cornice. 16-pane sashes with stone sills,
raised surrounds and wedge lintels on either side of door. Three similar
windows to first floor. Blocked doorway in lower range, to right of C20
2-light casement with glazing bars. 3-light and 2-light horizontal sliding
sashes above. All these openings have heavy, milled lintels. Coped gables
and shaped kneelers. End stacks. Interior: open-string staircase with
shaped cheekpieces over squared panelling; twined balusters; moulded
handrail ramped up to first landing; twined newel posts. Raised and fielded
panelled doors open off the stairhall, Raised and fielded panelled window
reveals to ground floor rooms. In ground floor room to end left stop-
chamfered beam survives from the earlier house.
