House. Early C18 with C19 alterations and additions. Coursed squared
pink/grey gritstone, graduated stone slate roof. Of 3 builds: a 2-storey
main bay facing east with a lower 2-storey bay set back to right and a 2-
storey, 2-bay additional wing at right-angles, right. Rusticated quoins to
main bay which has a 4-panel door right in an eared architrave surmounted by
an entablature with S-scrolls and a triangular pediment which breaks the
line of the moulded first-floor string course. A 2-light window in stone
architrave with lowered sill to left; a similar window with replaced sill to
first floor. Moulded eaves cornice. Shaped kneelers, gable copings,
corniced stack to left. To right - a short length of recessed walling has a
narrow window in plain surround. Projecting wing to right; left (south)
facade: half-glazed 4-panel door in chamfered irregularly quoined surround.
Fixed and side-sliding sash windows to right and first floor, all in plain
stone surrounds. Turned-back kneelers and gable copings; rendered stack to
right. Main range, rear (west): a blocked tall narrow round-headed window
with a transom to right; C20 inserted door to centre, long low window in
plain surround to left, a similar window above with 9-pane side-sliding sash
in flush frame. Lean-to addition to left not of special interest.
