outbuilding at rear

Mill and house probably C18, enlarged to the west in C19 - datestone on this
section - 1841 JB. Brick and stone walls, pantiled roof, brick stack. Two storeys
and attic. North elevation has, on ground floor, two ledged doors and two built-up
arched openings. Two fixed timber windows. First floor has two timber windows.
Brick buttress to this wall. West end wall has large built-up opening on ground
floor. One casement with glazing bars on first floor. On south elevation, ground
floor has large opening, to wheel pit. Casement window with glazing bars on ground
floor. Attic has one half-dormer with gabled roof and casements. Undershot water
wheel with wood paddles. Some remains of sluices. Internally, roof structure
renewed. No machinery except wheel.
Attached Mill House probably C19. Rendered walls, slate roof, brick stacks. Two
storeys. L-shaped plan. On south elevation, a single-storey lean-to with tiled
roof. Single-storey gabled extension to south wing, with stone walls and tiled
roof.
North elevation has modern ledged door. Ground floor has three casement windows
with glazing bars. First floor has two similar windows.
East elevation has modern ledge door. Ground floor has two double-hung sash windows
with glazing bars. First floor has three similar windows.
Detached outbuilding, west of the main block, now used as garages. Brick and flint
walls, slate roof. Modern garage doors faced with corrugated iron.
Brick and stone boundary walls, with tiled capping.
An attractive group.
