Farmhouse; C16,17,19. Wet-dash render to front elevation, smooth
render to porch, brick back and sides, tiled roof, with 2 courses
of stone slates at eaves on back. Main section 2 rooms deep, 4
windows wide, 2 storey: lower wing to right. Front three equal
gables, with wing roofed at right-angles to left. Plain plinth:
entrance porch off-centre to left under central gable. Chamfered
jambs to doorway, low, triangular head in stone lintels; trefoil
above, parapet gable with cross-gablet apex and projecting
kneelers. Trefoil-head lancets in sides; 4-panel door at back, 3
in top half. To right steps down to cellar, with iron cover; above
3-light casement window, 2-light to right, and beyond long C20
metal window. To left of porch 2 three-light casement windows:
first floor one 2-light casement per bay; all windows wooden with
cambered heads except C20 one. Parapet gables over front: plain
brick chimneys. Lower wing to right small 4-pane timber window,
with boarded door under cambered arch beyond: above low, 3-light
wooden window. A single-storey wing projects at right-angles,
containing garage and stores: part at end lofted.
Internally, hall runs across house: panelled, segmental arch half-
way back, single-flight stair beyond with spiral balusters, moulded
handrail. Panelling on wall: exposed timber-framing to first floor
on both sides, with heavy chamfer to arris of main posts.
Bolection-moulded door and frame and 6-panel door on first floor;
smallest panels in centre. (V.C.H. Gloucestershire, Vol.X, 1970).
