The remains of a mid C16 red brick house with an C18-C19 block on the north
front. The original house must have been of some importance having close by
a building which is said to have been a chapel. The present house was probably
the north-west wing of the original building which was built circa 1560. Nearby
the house there are the remains of 2 moats. The house has 2 storeys and attics.
The roof of the original block is tiled; with a central chimney stack with the
bases of 6 octagonal shafts. At the east end the ground storey and upper storey
windows are of original moulded brick and the ground storey windows are very
wide. A frieze of sexfoil floral design extends above the upper storey windows.
The interior is said to have original fireplaces. The C18-C19 block has 3 window
range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars and a central 6-panel door with
fanlight has a Doric porch with fluted columns. Roof slate. (RCHM 7).
