House. C15/16, altered in C18. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red clay tiles. 3 bays of a long-jetty house facing NW, which formerly
extended further to the SW. From the SW bay an unjettied range of 3 bays
extends to the NW, enclosing this part of the jetty, with an C18 stack at the
junction, facing SW. C20 lean-to porch in rear angle, and C20 lean-to extension
with felt roof to rear of NW range. 2 storeys. SW elevation (towards Boose's
Green), 3-window range of C20 casements. C20 half-glazed door in C20 fluted and
pedimented doorcase. An original plain bracket below the jetty is enclosed by
the rear porch. One early C19 casement of 4 lights with handmade glass above
this porch. Both ranges have jowled posts, heavy studding with curved braces
trenched to the inside, shutter grooves for unglazed windows, plain joists of
horizontal section, and crownpost roofs with axial bracing. The NW range has
one originally open truss with unjowled posts and chamfered arched braces. The
plan is unusual, with the jetty of one range enclosed by another late medieval
range; no explanation is apparent, but one range may have been resited. RCHM
