House, now a Youth Hostel. C16 or earlier with later additions and alterations.
C19 facade. Timber framed and plastered. Red plain tiled roofs. Central
restored red brick chimney stack with concertina shafts and sunk panel inscribed
1675. Red brick chimney stack to left crosswing. H-plan. 2 storeys and cellar.
1:2:1 window range of C19 vertically sliding sashes with glazing bars, some of
which are 3 light. Pentice boards and moulded brackets over. 2 of the ground
floor windows are bays with hipped leaded roofs. C18/C19 8 panelled door to
left with reeded pilasters, moulded frieze, and slanting canopy with heavy
carved brackets. To right is a 4 panelled 2 light door with moulded surround
slanting canopy and brackets. Plain bargeboards with moulded brackets and
pendants to crosswing gables. RCHM 13.
