GV II
House. C17 and C18. Timber framed, partly plastered and roughcast rendered,
partly clad with red and blue bricks in Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red
clay tiles. 2 bays facing N, with axial stack at right end, truncated at first
floor level, and a stack at the left end, originally external, now enclosed. An
C18 range forms a crosswing at the left end, extending forwards, of which the
front 2 bays now form Anchor Cottage (item 2/41, q.v.), the S bay incorporated
into Chestnuts. C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension to rear. One storey
with attics. In right bay, chamfered axial beam with lamb's tongue stops, large
wood-burning hearth, blocked. In left bay of original building (now the middle
bay), chamfered axial beam with step stops (probably re-used) with plain joists
of vertical section, and large wood-burning hearth reduced for C20 grate.
