GV II

House. C16, altered in C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red
clay tiles. 3-bay range facing S, with internal stack in left bay against rear
wall, and 3-bay crosswing to left, extending to rear, forming an L-plan. C18
rear range parallel with main range, completing a rectangular plan. C19 jettied
and gabled extension in middle of front elevation. C20 apsidal conservatory to
left. 2 storeys and attic. All front windows are C19 casements. Grouped
diagonal shafts. In left return wall, on first floor, one C18 3-light window
with wrought iron casement and spring latch. Jowled posts, close studding with
curved braces trenched to the inside, chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops,
clasped purlin roof with arched wind bracing and cambered collars. One large
wood-burning hearth facing to right, another facing to left much altered. The
interior is extensively treated with C19 panelling and carving, including some
parts of the original frame. RCHM 38.
