House. Probably late C17 with C18 and C19 additions and alterations.
Brown brick with ashlar dressings and pantile roof. Plan: 2 rooms deep
with original central 2-storey stair turret to rear, an C18 stair turret
to right abutting Gatehouse (qv) with 2-storey infill between, single
storey outshut to left and outshut to left gable. 2 storeys and attic,
4 bays. 2 steps to central C20 glazed double doorway under rectangular
fanlight with glazing bars. Pilastered porch with entablature which
breaks the 3-course first floor band. Sashes with stone cills
throughout, to ground and first floor with stone wedge lintels. 4 C19
gable-ended dormer windows. Steeply-pitched, swept roof and ridge
stacks. Interior: some beamed ceilings. Bressummer beam to kitchen
fireplace. C17 and C18 balusters to staircases. 'North Yorkshire and
