House. Early C16 with later alterations and additions including late C19 wing to left. Magnesian limestone aslar with sandstone ashlar dressings to wing to right, Welsh slate, cement tile and corrugated iron roof. Complex forms cross-shape.

Main range. Three off-set storeys, irregular fenestration. Chamfered plinth. Right side: ground floor has three three-light windows with reticulated tracery to the heads. First floor: three trefoiled lights. Second floor band. Two pointed-headed windows with shaft between. Single lancet. Corbel table to eaves with heraldic shields and masks. Remains of central multi-sided chimney rising from eaves on lamb corbel. Gable end: chamfered plinth. Blocked round-arched end entrance with moulded archivolt and later infill a trefoiled light. First and second floors to each have two lancets. Band to gable. Left side blocked by C19 wing. Rear one- and two-light mullion windows in chamfered surrounds.

Right-hand range of two buildings with gable end to front with and entrance bay between and further single storey, single bay addition to right. First build: two storeys, single bay. Ground floor, two-light mullion window in double-chamfered surround. First floor: single light in double-chamfered surround.

Entrance bay: two storeys, single bay. Central entrance a long-panel door under basket arch with moulded archivolt under continuous hoodmould. First floor: blocked pointed-headed window with trefoil-headed niches to either side. Band above. Battlements. Right-hand build: two storeys, two bays. Two two-light mullion and transom window in double-chamfered surround. Openings under continuous hoodmould. First floor, two square openings, that to right blocked and in double-chamfered surround. Rear. Three-storey, single bay pigeon cot with two-light mullion and transom windows in double-chamfered surrounds. Addition to right has C20 wooden double garage doors.

Left-hand range: two storeys, two bays. Chamfered plinth. End entrance under embattled porch. Two- and three-light mullion and transom windows throughout.

Interior. Not inspected but said to have quointed vaulting with ribs and late C14 piscina to ground floor of centre range.

Steeton Hall has been much altered and added to. The centre range is reputed to have housed a chapel originally. Parts of the right-hand range were in a state of some dilapidation at time of re-survey.
