Gatehouse. Late C14. Magnesian limestone ashlar and rubble. Gatehouse square on plan with embattled rubble walling to either side, approximately four metres long and five metres high.
Gatehouse: two storeys. Chamfered plinth. Ground Floor: round-headed double-chamfered carriage arch to right. Round-headed double-chamfered pedestrian arch. Above this a slit vent. Projecting chimney stack rising from first floor level on four corbels with heads, diminishing to an octagonal chimney, embattled, rising above battlement level. Above carriage arch a shouldered window in chamfered surround. Projecting battlements on corbel table. Gargoyles. Battlements.
To rear: plinth. Arches as before. To left three steps to a pointed doorway in chamfered surround. Above, a slit vent. To right eleven steps to first floor ogee-headed doorway in chamfered surround. Above carriage arch an ogee-headed window in chamfered surround. Corbel table. Battlements.
Interior: main archway has ribbed vault on head stops. Small arch has barrel vaulting.
