7/2 Alsopp family memorial and
railings about 11 yards west
- of the Church of St James

GV II

Chest tomb and railings. Late C19. Marble. Mid-C13 Gothic style. Moulded
plinth, hipped capping with flattened top and cross carved on it; sides
decorated with blind arcade of cusped, pointed arches, frieze of ivy leaves
above and foliated reliefwork in spandrels;. engaged arcade columns are of
pink marble with foliated capitals and moulded bases. Inscription within
arches at west end commemorates Henry Alsopp, first Baron Hindlip, died
1887 and Elizabeth, his wife, died 1906.
