Gate piers, gates and adjoining walls. Probably mid-C18 with mid-C19
alterations. Gate piers: limestone ashlar. Chamfered base, moulded cornice
and flat capping with prominent overhang. There are long raised and moulded
rectangular panels to front and rear with smaller similarly detailed panels
above and below them. The piers are surmounted by large fluted urns with
pyramidal bases. The gates are of cast iron and have ornate scrolled and
foliated cresting and are flanked by openwork cast iron piers. The
adjoining walls are of coursed limestone ashlar with a ridged rubble coping
above a continuous projecting course which is stepped where it adjoins the
gate piers. The coping to the eastern end of the wall has been repaired
with ashlar.
