Gothic garden pavilion constructed on a terrace, now a dwelling. Early C19.
Walls of coarse flint with rustic malmstone dressings; quoins, parapet with coping
and band, containing indented quatrefoils, keystones and impost blocks to pointed
arches, diamonds with quatrefoils. Slate roof, the south front is a tall single
storey, masking an upper floor and above the level of the basement, of 1.1.doorway
.1.1 windows. Pointed heads to sashes, and to the central French door. The north
side has a basement (rear of the embanked terrace) and a central gabled projection
containing the main entrance, which opens onto an upper walkway, flanked by balus-
trades and with two flights of stairs: the walkway ends as a slightly projecting
facade, containing a wide arch leading to a vaulted passage, ending in a half-
glazed door. Each end elevation has an attached chimney stack, with small Gothic
windows on each side, at the top and bottom. The terrace wall extends a considerable
distance on either side of the building, comprising a low wall of flintwork, with
taller piers at intervals; at the west end there is a flight of steps leading
down to the approach road.
