11/28 Grassmere Cottage
GV II

House. Late C16, restored and extended mid-C20. Timber-framed with
rendered infill on limestone rubble base and half-hipped thatched roof.
Two framed bays aligned north/south, large external chimney with brck
ridge stack at south end now enclosed by single-bay C20 addition which
continues main roofline. Single storey and attic with dormers. Framing:
two and three panels from sill to wall-plate, truncated collar and tie-
beam truss with struts at north end. West front elevation: windows are
all C20 leaded casements; the original part has two ground floor 2-light
windows, two eyebrow dormers with a 2-light and a 3-light window and the
main entrance to the left of the south bay which has a thatched porch on
timber posts and a C20 door. The additional bay to the south has a 3-light
ground floor window and an eyebrow dormer with a 2-light window. C20 lean-to
addition to full length of rear elevation. Interior retains its large fireplace.
