House, Dated 1693 with early C19 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble,
graduated stone slate roof, excepting the right side of the porch roof
which is of blue slates. 2 storeys, 3 bays, the central bay having a low
gabled 2-storey porch; added central l-bay rear wing. Quoins. Porch: C20
glazed door to right in surround with elaborately-moulded jambs and lintel,
the moulding carried across the lintel in 2 pointed and 1 round arch with
the raised letters "I A L : 1693"; hoodmould over; a 2-light recessed
chamfered mullion window above, the mullion removed and a 6-pane-sash
inserted; a round-headed chamfered window to left return; a rectangular
window to right return. Windows flanking porch, smaller on first floor,
have 4-pane sashes to left and 16-pane sashes to right, all in raised plain
surrounds. The remains of a blocked recessed chamfered window to ground
floor, far right. End stacks, the left stack slightly projecting. The
original eaves line is indicated by the change in the quoins; the building
line is also clear on the left return where there is an inserted window
with recessed chamfered jambs, ground floor left. Interior: ground floor,
left: the late C17 wide cambered-arched fireplace was reduced in width
c1800 but the keystone and the central voussoirs remain, the keystone
decorated with a four-petalled flower, zig-zag and leaf patterns in relief.
