Medium-sized country house. Late C18 altered C19 much enlarged early C20. Stuccoed
brick, slate roof behind parapet, brick stacks, C20 additions brick tilehung 1st
floor, plain tile roof, brick stacks. Original part 3 storey, L-shaped building,
of 7 bay front with 2 wide bays in centre and 2 storey, 3 wide bay service wing
carrying on at one end, and behind other 2-storey 3 bay wing with full-height
canted bays on its side and far end, and behind rest C20 part of 2 storeys and 3
gables, and further additions behind service range. Entrance front has to centre
wide bays 4 column Doric porch. Under central ½-glazed double doors, each side
3-pane window. LH flanked bays 2-light casements each of 3-panes, in architraves
with raised key. Similar on 1st floor and to centre bays. On 2nd floor of both
parts 4-pane window in similar architrave. RH flanking bays have tall 8-pane
sash in architrave. Recessed blind openings on 1st floor. On 2nd floor 2-light
casement each of 3-panes. Each window has large hexagonal panes and some small
panes filling edges. Over moulded cornice and plain parapet with coping. Behind
hipped roof. Large ridge stack just LH of centre part. Small stack just RH of
it and stack over RH bays. To LH on side of rear wing, 2 storey canted bay with
plinth, 12-pane sash with pointed heads to top panes, and on 1st floor 2-light
casements, to each face. To RH end service range has tripartite sashes and hipped
roof. Interior has fine C18 interior features in Gothic style but some Adam
ceilings.
