Ryecroft Farm Farmhouse

II


Farmhouse of 1752 and late C18 or early C19. Squared rubble with stone slate roof. A
long facade of 2 storeys, with 3 doorways near the centre and, to either side, 2
windows on each storey. There are 3-light stone mullion windows, with the mullions
recessed to left-hand side but flush to right-hand side. Two doorways are plain but
the central one is chamfered with a massive lintel. Four chimneys. To left hand
gable is one 2-light double chamfered stone mullion window lacking mullion.
Inside is a stone fireplace with lintel finely inscribed "William Bawdwen Junior
1752".
William Bawdwen lived at Stone Gappe, Lothersdale CP (qv).
