Farmhouse. C16 and C17, late C19 and C20 alterations. Square panelled
timber-framing with painted brick infill, sandstone rubble plinth. Welsh
slate roof and Welsh slate cladding to west gable end of cross-wing. Hall
and cross-wing with hall aligned north/south and cross-wing at north end,
and C17 stair turret at angle with cross-wing on west side; entrance to
south of west front. Main axial stack. Single storey and attic; slate
hung gable end of cross-wing to left with 3-light casement window. Ground
stair turret with 2-light casement window to right of wing. Hall block to
right with 3-light glazing bar casement window to left or gabled porch
with ledged door. Interior reveals an octagonal newel to the stair and
sections of c1600 panelling in room on ground floor of cross-wing. Upper
rooms not inspected but C16 trusses of hall block mentioned by RCHM and
said to be unaltered. (RCHM, Vol I, p 224).
