House and shop at street junction. C18, street facade renewed 1987. Abestos-
cement slate hanging, painted rubble flank wall with channelled pilaster strip
to Pandwell Street; slate roof, hipped to right, decorative ridge tiles. Three
storeys, 3 windows; ground floor has continuous plate-glass late C19 or early
C20 shop frame in 1:2:1 wide bays in two set-back glazed doors, to small stall-
board riser, with very thin mullions to bracketed caps and a band of leaded
glazing beneath good painted and gilded glass fascia with cornice. At first and
second floors are three 12-pane replacement sashes (1987). Right return has
deep 24-pane sash with thick glazing bars, and 2 later lights over a door,
extreme right. This, like No 14 adjoining (qv) may have been set back to allow
for the market building which stood in the road here until 1827. The shop front
has been added to the original front.
