Farmhouse. Dated 1706 on porch; altered. Stone plinth, walls of handmade
brick with stone quoins, finished with modern brick, tiled roof. Two-bay
end-baffle-entry plan. Two storeys, eaves probably raised; 2-storey gabled
porch at left end has board door offset to left, a decorated datestone
above it lettered in relief H A, and a 2-light sliding sash above; to the
1706
right the 2nd bay breaks forward slightly and has a blocked doorway with
splayed stone lintel; otherwise, two C19 3-light casements on each floor,
those at ground floor with splayed stone heads. Small brick lean-to at
left end. (C19 addition at right end not included in the item). Interior:
altered, but each bay has 2 large chamfered beams, those in the 1st bay
(housepart) with cyma stops, and exposed joists similarly decorated; in the
housepart the stopped ends of the beams are tenoned into a lateral beam in
front of the present chimney stack, which may have been part of an
inglenook.
