House and former smithy. 1720s but with alterations of
late C18 and C20. Hammer-dressed watershot stone with
graduated stone slate roof. 2-unit house with 2 storeys and
a 1-storey wing (former forge) to left. Projecting plinth
Quoins. 3-bay elevation with 2-light recessed chamfered
cavetto-moulded stone mullion ground floor window, similar 4
and 3-light windows on the first floor and a 2-light
recessed flat-faced stone mullion window. Blocked taking-in
door to first floor which was raised in height in late C18.
Small wing to left with C20 porch. The rear has a 2, 4 and
3-light window with cavetto-moulded mullions and a 12-light
recessed flat-faced mullion workshop window to the upper
floor. Gable has two 2-light windows and blocked attic
lights. Gable chimney stack. Bulletin of the Saddleworth
