Pair of attached cottages, part of a row of 4 cottages. Circa
late C17, remodelled and extended in circa early C19. Flemish
bond gault brick. Steeply pitched asbestos tile roof at front
with gabled ends; lower pitched slate roof at rear. Brick axial
stack. Plan: Pair of 1-room plan cottages with central axial
stack. Remodelled and rooms added at rear in circa early C19.
Part of a row of cottages including Nos 63 and 63A which have
been partly rebuilt. Exterior: 1 storey and attic. Symmetrical
2-window south front. Large 16-pane sashes in flush frames in
cambered brick arch openings. Similarly arched doorways to left
and right, both with C20 doors, No 59 (right) is panelled, No 61
(left) is glazed. Two large C20 flat roof dormers. At rear (N)
No 59 to left has stretcher bond gault brick rear wall with small
horizontally sliding sash on first floor; No 61 has stuccoed rear
wall with C20 windows and door. Interior: No 61 has chamfered
axial beam without stops, unchamfered joists and large brick
fireplace with chamfered timber lintel without stops; first floor
of rear wall has exposed timber studding; roof structure largely
rebuilt. No 59's interior not inspected.

Late C18 or early C19 row of gault brick cottages. Steeply pitched, asbestos roof,
originally thatched. Ridge stack and side stack. One-storey and attics. Four modern
flat roof dormers. Segmental headed arches to three hung sashes with glazing bars at
ground-floor. One later small shop window in moulded architrave. Similar arches to
four C19 panelled doors. One plank door to passageway at left hand.
