(formerly listed as The Old

GV II
House. Early C17 or earlier origins, extended by a shop at the west end, probably in
the C18. Whitewashed and rendered to the front (south) elevation, presumably cob on
stone rubble footings as partly exposed on the rear (north) elevation; roof thatched
at the west end, the roof half-hipped at the west, corrugated asbestos roof to the
east; truncated projecting front lateral stack with bread oven.
Plan: Probably part of a single depth 3 room plan C17 house in origin, although much
altered subsequently. A single-storey thatched block on a slightly different axis
adjoins at the west end: this is probably an C18 shop or workshop is said to have
been detached from the main range within living memory. The entrance is now in the
west end wall in the angle between the main range and the thatched block.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3 window south elevation with a variety of 2-light
C20 timber casements, 1980s porch on the left return wall with a 2-light C20 casement
above. C20 casements to the thatched block.
Interior: Not inspected at time of survey (1987). Interior said to be very altered
internally (information from owner) but to retain the feet of 2 cruck trusses in the
main range, with no access to the apex of the roof.
Group value with a cluster of early houses.
