GV II
Barn with attached horse gin house and cartshed. Probably late C18 or early C19.
Uncoursed granite rubble with massive quoins, scantle slate roofs. The barn is
rectangular in plan on a north-south axis, and of 2 storeys and 5 bays, with a
doorway to the 1st bay and square loading doorways at 1st floor of the 2nd and
5th bays, the horse gin house attached to the centre of the east side wall and
the cartshed attached to the south-east corner, on a parallel axis. The horse gin
house is octagonal in plan and single-storey; the north-east and south-east sides
have wide square-headed openings with massive lintels, the north and south sides
have small windows; and the roof is hipped; the interior has a large beam on the
north-south diameter supporting a crude king-post roof structure, a square
opening into the barn and a doorway above this. The cart shed is rectangular in
plan under a monopitched roof, and has a 4-bay open east front with 4 roughly-
hewn granite posts and timber saddles supporting the roof on a timber wallplate,
and an open north end with the roof hipped over it.
