House. Mid C18 with C19 alterations and C20 addition to rear. Red brick in
English garden wall bond; concrete tile roof. Plan: 3 rooms with central
lobby entry, stairhall to centre left. 2 storey, 4 bays; symmetrical. Mid-
late C19 doorcase with panelled and fluted pilasters, entablature with
dentilled cornice and hood; ornate panelled door and plain overlight in
panelled reveal. 12-pane ground-floor sashes in wooden architraves with
sills and C19 keyed stucco flat arches. First floor: similar sashes beneath
original painted rubbed-brick flat arches. C19 wooden eaves board and
bracketed gutter. Tumbled-in brick to gables with C19 stone coping. C20
axial stack and end stack to right. Attic window to left return with C20
glazing. Interior: open well staircase with ramped handrail and column
balusters, moulded cornice to stairhall; room to rear right with ribbed
cornice and frieze, elliptical-arched alcoves flanking fireplace, and doors
in architrave with roundel ornament and cornices; panelled window shutters
and doors in architraves; not fully investigated. Formerly known as
Greenshaw House; John Greenshaw was living here in 1768. Victoria County
