Farmhouse. Late C17 with early-mid C18 refronting; renovations of c1980.
Red brick, largely in Flemish bond. Pantile roof. L-shaped on plan: 2-room
central entrance-hall south front with single-room wing to rear right and
C20 outshut in angle. 2 storeys with attic, 3 bays; symmetrical. High
ovolo-moulded plinth. Recessed C20 door beneath blocked overlight with C20
moulded fan, in architrave beneath flat brick arch. Reset datestone above
inscribed: EDWARD. C19 four-pane ground-floor sashes, in C18 flush wooden

architrave to right, C20 architrave to left, beneath cambered brick arches.
First floor: similar 4-pane sashes in side bays in C18 flush wooden
architraves; narrower central sash in C20 architrave. Boxed eaves. Brick
coped and tumbled gables with brick kneelers. Axial and end stacks. Right
return has pair of C20 ground-floor windows, blocked attic opening to front
range, C20 casement beneath cambered arch and 2 first-floor 12-pane sliding
sashes to rear section. Left return has blocked door, small single blocked
opening to ground floor, pair of similar blocked openings to first floor, 2
blocked openings to attic. Interior. Good late C17 open well staircase
with pulvino corniced string, corniced handrail, bulb-on-urn balusters and
plain newels with profile balusters, ball finials and pendant drops.
Contemporary cyma-chamfered spine beams to ground-floor rooms with tongue
stops. The staircase is similar to that in No 10 Westgate (qv).
