House. Mid-late C18 much refurbished, altered and extended c.1890 for
Stephen Smith, further extensions C20. Front is of vitreous header
brick with red brick dressings, flint plinth and dentilled cornice.
Remainder brick. Old tile roofs, flanking brick chimneys with dentil
caps. Original double pile house with c.1890 parallel rear wing.
2 storeys and attic, 5 bays. 3-pane sash windows with gauged heads.
3 dormers of c.1890 with leaded casements and moulded pediments.
Central 6-panelled door with rectangular fanlight, panelled reveals,
bolection surround and heavy segmental pediment on cut scroll brackets,
all probably c.1890. Flanking single storey bays of c.1890, canted to
sides, with moulded cornices and parapets, that to right formerly a
Tuscan loggia with stone columns and cornice. Sides are triple gabled,
the left side with symmetrical canted bays and colonnade between. C20
wings to rear. Interior remodelled, with re-sited C18 and early C19
fireplaces, and C18 turned baluster stair.
