House. Late C17/Early C18. Rendered brick with plain tile roof (C19
replacement). Two storeys and attic (Baffle-entry plan). Entrance
front: four bays, projecting plinth. Bands between ground and first
and first floor and attic floor. Projecting two-storey porch to
second bay from left having round-headed arch with keystone and
cyma-moulded springers. Two-light casement window to first floor with
moulded C19 cornice above. C19 ground floor cambered headed windows
to left and right hand returns. To the left is a two-light C19
casement window to the ground floor with similar at first floor level
above. To the right are 3-light and 2-light casement windows to left
and right respectively with a similar arrangement to the first floor.
Ridge stack to right of centre. Right hand return has scattered
fenestration and two-storey wing at right. Left return similar.
Rear: gabled projecting wings at right and left, formerly to either
side of a central narrow courtyard which has now been roofed to form a
slightly projecting porchway. C19 gabled dormer to first floor
centre.
Interior: Chamfered end-stopped ceiling beams to hallway and also to
kitchen which has an iron and brass range. Four 2-panel doors to
ground floor and similar doors to first floor. Four-flight close
string staircase with moulded balusters and reveals with bead
mouldings to corners. One exposed queen-post roof truss with angle
braces below. Two sets of purlins and ridge and wind bracing.
