LADOCK
SW 85 SE
1/18 St Ladoca's Well
GV II
Well. Of ancient origin but present structure is probably C19. Rubble, granite
and freestone. Semi-circular plan. Low corbelled roofed structure covering spring
which reputedly never runs dry. Entrance with rubble piers has freestone 2 centred
arch formed by 2 stones the longer one forming the apex including a recessed Greek
cross probably C19. Set in each side wall is a C15 granite 2 centred cusped arch
springing from ground level (possibly reused after church restoration in 1864).
Roof is of rubble and cambered. A disused mill leat passes nearby.
