15/39 West Park Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Late C18 of 2 builds with early C19 additions. Dressed sandstone.
Stone-flagged roof and stone chimney stacks. Double-depth plan with 2 lean-tos
on right return and rear.
Continuous 2-storey front. 3-bay right section with narrow 2-bay left section,
the latter formerly a stable. Right section has low plinth with flush quoins
to right and at junction. Blank central bay flanked by 2-pane sashes on ground
floor and by 12-pane sashes above. Left section has flush quoins to left.
Partly-glazed 4-panel door and 2-pane overlight in right bay; first-floor 12-
pane sash inleft bay. Windows have stone flat-arched lintels with segmental
tops. Roof has coped gables, a coping at junction and shaped kneelers. End
stacks and a ridge stack with top bands and water tables.
2-storey set-back lean-to, on right return, has replaced partly-glazed door;
4-pane sash above. One-storey set-back lean-to, at far right, has a 12-pane
sash.
Interior: ground-floor sitting room has an elaborate marble chimney-piece from
Hornby Castle, Yorkshire.
