2/22 Greencroft
II
House. Dated 1695 on lintel of doorway with probably early C18 cross wing to
right. Rendered and painted sandstone rubble; moderately-pitched pantiled
roof; one rebuilt ridge stack of brick. T-plan; 2-storey, 2-bay section with
2-storey, single-bay cross wing projecting to front and rear. Left bay has
hoodmoulds over ground and first floor windows. Doorway in second bay under
hoodmould has alternating jambs, chamfered and moulded arrises with run-out
stops; monolithic lintel inscribed with date 1695 and initials I.P.; and a
replaced 6-panel door. Small 4-pane sash above doorway. Late C19 and C20
casements. Cross wing has two C20 casements with raised sills and wedge lintels;
rounded corner to right return. Roof has moulded gable copings with shaped
kneelers. Modernised interior retains double-flight dogleg staircase of stone.
