4/30 The Old Lodge
GV II
Estate lodge. Circa 1825. Stucco. Scantle slate roof, hipped to north and south
and with gable end pediment to west. Central axial rendered chimney.
T-shaped 3-roomed plan. Classical style.
Single storey. Symmetrical west front has central prostyle tetrastyle Doric portico.
Unfluted columns, and mutules to cornices continuing to eaves of wings. Central
doorway within portico has 4-panel door flanked by round-headed, semi-circular-on-
plan niches. Pediment has central blind oculus. Flanking wings have wide
rectangular recessed panels below eaves level. Window on end wall of each wing and
side wall, left, of front wing. Each window with moulded stucco architrave is 16-
pane 2-light casement.
Interior not inspected.
An example of Neo-classical style lodge which is completely intact.
