House, subdivided into 2 dwellings. Mid C18. Red brick with vitrified
headers, the front laid in header bond, the sides laid in Flemish bond giving
chequered effect. Lighter red brick dressings. C20 tile roofs. Double-
pile plan, 2 storeys and attics, with mansarded 2-span roof, hipped to road
elevation. Road elevation: brick bands at first and 2nd floor level. High
parapet, brick with stone coping. Ground and first floors each have
tripartite sashes with glazing bars, beneath gauged brick flat arches.
Parapet has 2 raised panels in rectangular recesses with flat-arched heads.
These continue the line of the windows below. Attic has 2 box dormers which
rise a little above parapet. E elevation (No.8): 3 window facade with brick
band at first floor level. Wood eaves cornice, no parapet. Ground floor
has blind window recess to LH and late C19 projecting bay to RH containing
tripartite sash. First floor has blind window recess to LH, 2-light casement
to centre and 3-light casement to RH, both with glazing bars. All window
openings have gauged brick flat arched heads. Plain doorway with flat
cornice hood. One box dormer containing casement window. W elevation
(No.8a): similar, but without C19 projecting bay. Red brick ridge and gable
end stacks.
