Barn. Cl7 with mid-C19 alterations. Timber-framed with brick infill,
replacement walling and additions, sandstone base and plain tiled roof,
half-hipped at south-west end. Three completely framed bays plus one
additional bay aligned north-east/south-west; wagon bay second from south-
west end has opposed cart entries with double doors and hipped roof to south-
east elevation. Framing: aisled construction; two rows of panels from sill
to wall-plate at sides, four panels at gable ends; long straight braces in
lower corners; south-west gable end has truncated collar and tie-beam truss
with central strut and raking struts in lower corners; north-east gable end
has collar and tie-beam truss with two collars, four struts to lower and
two to upper collar. South-east elevation has three irregularly sized
windows. North-east gable end has a stable door and flanking windows, all
with cambered heads, and a loft door above. Interior: three-bay totally
framed part has two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts; collar
and tie-beam truss with three struts between bays 3 and 4; two tiers of
purlins; arch-braced aisle posts. North-east bay is floored. Astwood Hill
Farmhouse is not included in this list.
