High Woodside Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse probably of later C17 date, altered. Hammer-dressed stone at front, rubble
at back, with stone slate roof. Two storeys; 2-unit plan with stairs at rear.
Quoins. To ground floor unmoulded C19 windows, to first floor 2-light chamfered stone
mullion windows now sashed without glazing bars. Doorway with monolithic jambs and
cambered head. At rear are 2 chamfered stone mullion windows of 2 lights one lacking
its mullion.
Inside on left is a massive segmental fireplace with lintel grooved to represent
voussoirs, which supports 2 beams. In the pantry are stone shelves, behind an 8-panel
door of C17 type. Several doors of 6 raised and fielded panels with cock's head
hinges. Two heavy trusses with trenched purlins in roof.
