2/6 Banksea Cottages

Former almshouses, now 2 cottages. C16 but reputed to be mediaeval, much altered C19
and early C20. Thin coursed rubble, double Roman tiles and chimneys. Rectangular with
large stepped chimney to rear (now taken down to eaves); nib of stonework also to rear
in possible site of further chimney. 2 storeys, 3 windows on first floor, irregular 2-
and 3-light casements. 3 doorways in ground floor with wooden lintels, 2 taller with
transom lights, one blocked, ledge and batten doors. Interior not seen; present roof
said to cover earlier thatch. In poor condition at time of survey.
