5/18 Bakehouse, Brown's End

GV II

Detached bakehouse; probably late C17; later alterations. Brick-
nogged timber framing, 3-panel high to eaves, tiled roof. Single
room, 1½ storey. Gable end boarded door on right with single-light
casement adjoining: blocked window to left. Three-light casement-
in gable: tie-beam and collar truss. Left return single-light
window left of centre: beam ends to first floor exposed in
framing, missing studs. Large, wide external brick chimney against
rear gable. Internally 3 plastered beams to ground floor, beaded
edge: stairs boarded off on left. At rear 2 ovens and large
hearth, copper later built into last. Interesting survival, only
minor alterations. Forms group with Brown's End (q.v.).
