Barn. C14 or C15; C18 enlargement. Timber-framed with
weatherboarding; corrugated-iron roof. 4-bay; south end bay wider
than rest, used as cow byre. South end: half-hipped with 2 plank
doors of differing sizes to loft; glazed opening below. East side:
scattered glazed openings; plank barn doors to off-centre opening;
byre projects forward to left. West side: 2 pairs of doors, main
plank barn doors to off-centre opening, and corrugated-iron to
byre; single glazed opening to right of barn doors. North end:
gabled; attached are remains of cow-byre, much rebuilt with hipped
roof.
Interior: 2 crucks and 2 trusses on posts. 1 complete cruck with
collar; cruck spurs to posts; second cruck (former south end of
barn) cut off for hipped roof, having heavy tie-beam. Tie-beam
trusses with collars and strutting, supported on jowled posts with
curved knee-bracing. Widely spaced studded wall framing to 2 north
bays with long straight passing braces.
