Hardwicke Farmhouse


GV II

Outbuilding (original purpose unknown). C15; possibly re-erected
later. Timber framed; weatherboarded; plain tile roof. Square;
single-bay; roof links to south east corner of Hardwicke Farmhouse
(q.v.). Weatherboarded exterior with gable end to north east;
hipped roof to south west; roof extended to 2 posts at south west
end sheltering area of wattle and daub.
Interior contains 2 cruck frames; one with cambered collar to north
east end is complete; another to south west end has been cut to
form half hip; 2 arched wind braces to purlins. Together with
Hardwicke Farmhouse (q.v.) and outbuildings to south west of
Hardwicke Farmhouse (q.v.), may have formed part of the medieval
manor house of Rudge. Forms part of group around yard. (C.R.
