Dovecote, formerly in the grounds of The Priory (q.v.). C17-early
C18. Bands of coursed squared and dressed limestone alternating
with narrow bands of thin-bedded stone. Artificial stone slate
roof. Square plan. Two storeys. Flat-chamfered plinth. Small
narrow doorway with flat-chamfered surround (now blocked) on the
north side. Large segmental-headed, probably C19, opening inserted
in south side, now glazed with double doors. Small window with
leaded panes in east side. Small opening with segmental brick head
above (now blocked with brick). Pyramidal roof with access lantern
at apex with blocked sides and ball finial. Interior; pigeon
holes built into walls of upper floor.
