(formerly listed as Hyde House, Blackmanston) Detached house. C1600, altered in
C18. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roof, stone stacks. T-shaped plan -
originally with stair turret in angle between front and rear wings. This
demolished - but to be rebuilt. Two storeys. Main north front has, on ground
floor, 1-5 light and 1-4 light mullioned window - both with hoodmoulds. First floor
has a 3-light mullioned window and a recent casement. Small window at mezzanine
level lighting late stair - (now removed). Coped gable at west end. Rear wing
rebuilt in C18 at lower level - with timber casement windows (to be raised to
original level).
Internally, main ground and first floor rooms have stone fireplaces with 4-centred
arches. 4-centred arched doorways survive, leading from the front to the rear wing,
and to the vanished staircase turret. Under repair and alteration at time of
survey.
