Detached farmhouse. Late C16. East room (original kitchen) rebuilt or added early
C17. Rear service wing at east end, C18 or later. Former stair turret at rear of
main block - now demolished. Rough ashlar and rubble stone walls, stone slate
roofs, stone stacks some rebuilt in brick. Three room and cross-passage plan. Two
storeys and attics. Main elevation has full-height gabled porch with moulded
coping. 4-centred arched doorway. 2-light mullioned windows on first floor and
small blocked window in attic gable. West of porch, ground floor has two 4-light
mullioned windows with lead lights, under hood moulds - lighting the Hall and
Parlour. First floor has two similar 2-light windows. Attic has one gabled dormer
with casements. East of the porch, ground floor window blocked by late fireplace.
Small lean-to extension at west end. Rear-wing - south section, one storey and
attic, north section, single-storey. Casement windows and loft door under gabled
dormer. Good example of traditional farmhouse. RCHM Monument 6.
